Series Mania is getting ready for the 2021 edition
MIDPOINT Institute is proud to be again one of the partner schools of UGC Writers’ Campus. The Campus is an immersive week-long writing workshop for 20 emerging drama series writers from around the world. The participants will take part in workshops and masterclasses by experienced professionals who will also serve and support them as mentors in the development of their projects. Later on, they will get the opportunity to pitch their projects in front of international industry professionals.
We are thrilled to share that this year, MIDPOINT TV Launch 2020 alumna Dora Sustic was chosen to participate with her project BUDDHA BAR, a crime drama set in the Croatian port city of Rijeka in the early 2000s.
After her best friend’s daughter is caught on tape as an escort girl, Zora, a respected surgeon and mother of a teenage daughter, must use her political leverage to save her friend from scandal, or help expose the prostitution network at the expense of their friendship.
Dora will be working under the mentorship of the president of the Campus - screenwriter, showrunner and producer Amit Cohen/Israel (False Flag, No Man’s Land) as well as the tutors and established series professionals Donna Sharpe/UK, Germany (The Team, Who do you think you are) and Neil Landau/USA (The Magnificent Seven, Melrose Place).
The first French LGBTQ+ series LES ENGAGÉS: XAOC by MIDPOINT tutor Sullivan Le Postec is scheduled to be screened on Friday August 27 at 7:30 p.m.! Worth mentioning is for example that the series has been first created in a short format.
The creators of TV Launch 2021 project (S)MOTHERING – writer Aiste Ptakauske and producer Margarita Veberaite – will partake in the Series’ Women One-on-one meetings, as well as TV Launch 2020 alumna Maja Pek-Brunjes, who was selected with her series project JINX.
