Erasing Frank at Venice Film Critics' Week

We proudly introduce one of the four MIDPOINT alumni films to premiere within Venice IFF 2021 – Hungarian black & white drama Erasing Frank.

Feature debut by Hungarian filmmaker Gabor Fabricius has taken part in MIDPOINT Feature Launch 2018 program, with the team consisting of Gabor as a writer/director and Miklos Havas as producer.

Later in 2018, the project has been selected for and presented within the CineLink Co-Production Market of Sarajevo Film Festival and also for Baltic Event Co-Production Market.
It is supported by National Film Institute of Germany, produced by Otherside Stories and represented by Paris-based international sales and production company Totem Films.

Logline
1983, behind the Iron Curtain of Eastern Europe in Budapest. Frank is the charismatic singer of a banned punk band that carries the voice of their generation against a totalitarian regime. Taken by the police psychiatric hospital in an attempt to silence him, Frank will sacrifice everything to resist.

Erasing Frank’ is an attempt to redefine direct cinema and social drama. I want to let the audience go through raw experience in a dehumanized Orwellian reality,” stated Fabricius for Variety.

The film has celebrated its world premiere within 36th Venice Film Critics' Week of Venice IFF.
