With the online Berlinale Industry Event around the corner, we would like to applause our alumni for being selected for this unique event!
MIDPOINT alumni at Berlinale Industry Event 2021
At the end of November 2020, the Croatian series project Afterparty by writer Dora Sustic and producer Maja Pek-Bruenjes (Antitalent) freshly graduated our MIDPOINT TV Launch program, winning the HBO Europe Award for the best project of the edition. Three months later, we will witness them pitching at the Berlinale Co-Pro Series industry event.
The Afterparty is a contemporary drama, which follows Lucija, in her late twenties, and her best friends as they explore the proper adult world, while the political aspirations of the ultra-conservative movement threaten their sexual freedom, health and self-esteem.
“Unlike most TV shows about female friendships, we don’t shy away from feminism; we explore it”, said the team in the Cineuropa interview.
We would also like to congratulate our TV Launch Head of Studies Gabor Krigler (Joyrider), who will also be pitching his new series projects Balaton Brigade at the Co-Pro Series presentation.
Check the Co-Pro Series pitches on March 2 at 11.00 CET.
Berlinale Co-Production Market
Among the selection of 35 promising feature film projects from 25 countries is also feature debut Sea Sparkle by Domien Huyghe, a Belgian film director and screenwriter and our TV Launch graduate from 2018.
International Co-Production of Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn by Radu Jude
Feature film project Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn by Radu Jude was part of the Berlinale Co-Production Market in 2020 and in 2021, it has been selected for Berlinale Competition.
Among the speakers, who will talk about the speedy journey of the film’s making, will be the co-producers, one of them being Ada Solomon, our MIDPOINT Cold Open alumna, or Jiri Konecny, our MIDPOINT Intensive CZ graduate. Carla Fotea, our Feature Launch alumna, also collaborated as an executive producer on Jude's project.
Tune in on March 1 at 10.00 CET.
