Jerry Carlsson, a Swedish director and screenwriter, holds a BFA and MFA in Filmmaking from Valand Academy. His short films have competed at festivals such as Venice, Toronto, Locarno, Tribeca, and Aspen. At Clermont- Ferrand, the short film Shadow Animals won both the Special Jury Award and the Canal+ Award in 2018. Other awards include Best Short Film awards at Palm Springs ShortFest, San Francisco IFF, and Kaohsiung ISFF, as well as two Best Nordic Short Awards at Nordisk Panorama. His films have been sold to, among others, Disney+, SVT, Canal+, France 3, and the Criterion Channel, and have been selected as Vimeo Staff Pick Premieres.
Jerry has participated in Nordic Film Lab, Berlinale Talents, and Jerusalem Script Lab, and was selected for European Film Promotion’s FUTURE FRAMES: Ten Filmmakers to Follow at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. He has recently directed two episodes of the Netflix drama series Young Royals (Season 3).
