If you are looking to discover the unique perspectives that make international stories thrive, our panel Connect With Talent: Female Writers in the Spotlight is not to be missed! 

You will meet award-winning writers Dóra Johannsdóttir and Joana Vilapuig as they discuss creative processes and international collaboration in a session that also introduces MIDPOINT Talent Connections - a unique curated database and collaboration-enhancing tool featuring exceptional European talent.

This panel and talk were born out of the constant search for unique voices and the talent that makes international stories thrive. This session is your chance to meet contemporary writers and hear about the different ways they bring stories to life across borders, while offering a rare, personal look at the independent voices shaping the future of European storytelling.

The panel brings together Icelandic writer/director Dóra Johannsdóttir (Stella Blómkvist, Húsó) and Catalan creator/actress Joana Vilapuig (Selftape), both alumni of the MIDPOINT Writers’ Room program. Through personal case studies, the speakers will share insights from the front lines of series development, discussing the realities of writing for television across different markets and production cultures.

Moderated by Ljubica Lukovic, an award-winning Berlin-based series writer and MIDPOINT alumna, the session explores the writers’ room as a vital development tool, drawing on hands-on experience to address what makes a room function effectively, the nuances of female-led vs. mixed rooms, and how techniques like improv can foster trust and creativity in a development pipeline.

Connecting these creative insights with practical industry needs, the event introduces MIDPOINT Talent Connections. This curated database of exceptional writers, script editors, and development executives—all alumni of MIDPOINT Institute training and skills development programs—serves as a premier scouting opportunity and an essential bridge for your talent search, connecting international producers, broadcasters, and financiers with fresh talent.

The event concludes with a networking reception, providing an ideal environment for industry professionals to connect, exchange ideas, and initiate future collaborations.
