Not All Houses Have a Yard
Afraid to sleep, a mildly neurotic young woman sleepwalks toward danger, repressing her father’s death. Therapy, drugs, and love blur until she learns the safety she seeks is her own.
Silly and mildly neurotic MILICA (27) is afraid to fall asleep, convinced that her increasingly frequent episodes of sleepwalking could end in accidental suicide. She discusses this fear—along with her use of soft drugs, unstable romantic life, and phobia of elevators—during sessions with her unconventional psychotherapist, BOJAN (47).
Six months after her father’s death, Milica represses her grief and feels completely alone: her mother has a new partner, her brother is in prison, and her best friend has moved out. Pretending she works as a Serbian tutor, Milica secretly lives off money left by her father. As her life unravels, she grows emotionally dependent on Bojan and confesses her love. Though he responds professionally, their bond intensifies and begins to blur boundaries.
Trying to escape her feelings, Milica dives into reckless relationships while her sleepwalking worsens, leading her through the night streets of Belgrade. Ultimately, she confronts her illusions and realizes the safety she seeks exists within herself.
