Girls in Uniform

Prussia in January 1914, on the eve of the First World War. At the Helenenstift, a boarding school for the daughters of high-ranking officials, the future mothers of soldiers are being trained; women whose sole mission is to provide the Reich with sons. Here, in the midst of the repressive madness of Prussian discipline and order, there is a martial hierarchy among the girls in which the newcomer Manuela must first assert herself. The only warmth she receives is from her class teacher, Fräulein von Bernburg. A tender love story soon develops between the young, rebellious pupil and her sympathetic, unhappy teacher, with fatal consequences that shake the walls of this fortress of patriarchy, infested with the roots of German fascism, which here is maintained only by women.
