Maya Korn
A UK/ German native, Maya is an LA/Europe based producer. She has produced films in Beijing, New York, Mexico City, Los Angeles, Galway and London. Her company MHK Productions (London/ LA/ Cork) champions feminist, diverse, queer stories; often with a genre edge.
Her recent feature credits include DEATHCEMBER’S A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE (2019) and Tribeca Untold Stories Grantee LUCKY GRANDMA (2019). Her feature lab successes have come through: Vivienne Vaughn’s LUCKY STRIKES that competed the Fantasia Frontieres Co Production Lab, Berlinale Talent Project Market Lab for producers; ICON, that has completed Cine Qua Non Storylines lab Eave Ties That Bind Lab (through TAICCA Creative Conference & Udine FEFF), Stowe/Sidewalk Narrative Lab; GILLYFISH, that pitched at Galway Fleadh, Midpoint Queer, A Post Lab and was workshopped through the Cinestory & Stowe Labs & ELLE that completed the European Genre Forum.
Her notable shorts credits include: BLUE HOUR, which completed DWW AFI lab, received WIF funding and played 80 festivals (premiering at Brooklyn Shorts); #NOFILTER (starring Misha Oshervic of FREAKY) that won 45 awards, screened over 100 festivals and has distribution via Omeleto as part of YouTube's top showcase for award winning films and DIABLA, that played over 60 festivals, won 15 awards, and premiered on Gunpowder & Sky’s Alter platform to 60k views. She recently won the Fresh Meat Work in Progress Pitch at Friss Hus with Zsuzsanna Konrad’s SOMETHING WILD & the Sitges $10k Woman in Fan teaser grant for her newest short CORPSE.
Recently, she’s been diversifying into the commercial space, working with non-binary director Rhi Bergado, creating content for brands with MTV and on Facebook Live’s CARDI TRIES S2.
She is a Kings College Film MA graduate ’15, a Columbia University Creative Producing MFA Graduate ’19; a participant of the WIF Producing Mentorship Program ’19; a La Femis Producing Atelier graduate ’18; a finalist of the Marcie Bloom/Sony Fellowship ’17; a participant of WEMW Focus Inspirational Lab ’23 as well as their Genre lab ’24; Bridging the Dragon Sino European Lab ’24 and a proud member of WIF, EWA, Network Ireland and BAFTA Connect.
