Matteo Sanders
Matteo Sanders (*1989, Innsbruck, Austria) studied Directing and Screenwriting at the Filmakademie Wien under Michael Haneke and Barbara Albert. In 2019, he studied in Oslo, creating the short film "Decisions" with Erasmus peers, which won Best Script at FAMU Film Festival 2021. His short "Am Grat" (2022) reached Student Academy Awards semifinals and became a Vimeo Staff Pick. As a Doc Around Europe Talent, his work "33' 66º" was selected for their VOD program. "Pocket Money" premiered at Max Ophüls Preis 2025. After a nine-month stay in Rome working on a documentary about urban wild boars, he's now developing a new short film selected for MASO #2 training program by IDM Film Commission South Tyrol. Sanders holds Austrian and Italian citizenship, speaks German and Italian fluently, and lives in Vienna.
