Lukáš Kokeš studied film theory at Charles University and graduated from FAMU's Department of Documentary Film. His early shorts screened at Jihlava IDFF and international festivals. With Klára Tasovská he co-directed "Fortress" (2012), awarded Best Czech Documentary at Jihlava IDFF and nominated for the LUX Prize 2013, and "Nothing Like Before" (2017), which premiered at IDFA. He contributed as co-author and cinematographer to the HBO Europe drama series "Wasteland" (2016) and has been teaching dramaturgy at FAMU since 2018. He produced I'm Not Everything I Want to Be(2024), which premiered at Berlinale, screened at 100+ festivals worldwide, and was selected as the Czech candidate for the 98th Academy Awards. His most recent project, Summer School, 2001 (2025), co-produced with Dužan Duong, received two Czech Film and TV Academy Awards (Czech Lion) and the Czech Film Critics' Award for Discovery of the Year and Screenplay.
