Dignified EXIT

Set in a satirical near-future grappling with an aging population crisis, Dignified Exit follows Quang, an unemployed 29-year-old gamer living in a crowded, multi-generational household. Tensions inside the home erupt when his beloved Czech grandfather Karel suffers a severe cardiac episode requiring costly stem-cell therapy. Desperate for cash, Quang takes a job at "Dignified Exit" —a government- backed initiative where agents convince elderly citizens to undergo state- sponsored euthanasia in exchange for a $50,000 family bonus. Partnering with Sarah, an ambitious agent who becomes his girlfriend, Quang learns to manipulate seniors by framing death as a selfless "legacy" to relieve their families' financial burdens. The family is under more pressure because his uncle and aunt, who live in the same overcrowded household are expecting twins on top of that. Quang must rise rapidly, using his commission to fund Karel's treatment while exploiting members of his local Vietnamese community, including an elderly woman named Mrs. Ha. However, his success is short-lived. Mrs. Ha's granddaughter Thao, a student activist, exposes Quang’s predatory sales tactics to the press. The resulting public outrage destroys Quang’s career; Sarah abandons him, Dignified Exit fires him, his family faces intense media harassment, and he is forced to take a low-paying job as a garbage collector. Meanwhile, Grandpa Karel’s vascular dementia worsens. Tormented by hallucinations and guilt after accidentally striking his granddaughter Kim during a episode, Karel becomes convinced he is an unbearable burden to his loved ones. Karel finally persuades Quang to let him go and call Sarah to schedule his own euthanasia. In the dramatic climax, Sarah arrives at the family home to execute Karel's request, sparking a frantic brawl among the adults over ethics, money, and Karel's life. As Aunt Thuy suddenly goes into labor and the household devolves into absolute screaming chaos, Grandpa Karel’s heart fails and he quietly passes away in his chair. Completely unnoticed by the fighting adults, only young Kim holds her grandfather's hand as he dies, accompanied by the distant crying of newborn twins.
