Julian Lona
Julián Lona (Argentina, 1989) is a filmmaker based in Madrid. He has directed four feature documentaries filmed in eight countries, selected in over 40 international festivals and markets including MIPTV-MIPDOC (Cannes), MarDocLab (Mar del Plata), and FIDBA. His work has earned awards such as “Best Documentary” at Swindon Independent FF (UK) and “Best Feature Doc” at Rome Prisma (Italy). In 2023, he debuted his first fiction short El canto del cisne, followed in 2024 by La próxima vez (11 selections, 3 awards) and Oropel. His projects blend social themes with genre elements. Currently, he is developing the fiction feature Existencia en retiro and the horror short Lucía at the Window, which won the First Prize at Filmer Forge (In the Palace, Oscar-qualifying) and was selected for MIDPOINT Institute 2025–2026 (Czech Republic).
