Mikey’s Perfect World

Original title: Miškov svet

Miško (Mikey) is a 12-year-old altar boy from Smižany, a small village in East Slovakia. He lives his care-free life until one day a misunderstanding happens and the whole village starts to think he is a gay. Miško is separated from his community and all he wants is to get his friends back and convince them otherwise. Gradually, however, he begins to understand what it means to be different. Only thanks to this experience is he able to change his views and understand that "love thy neighbor" also includes neighbors that deviate from the conservative village norms. The film shows how a divisive social debate is reflected in the children's world, how prejudices are formed, but also how tolerance is born.
