A Dance Like This in the Middle of the Field Is My Desire

Riya, a Delhi-based journalist, travels to Kabul in 2019 out of curiosity, to report on a girls' dance group led by Tooba, a young college student. The trip changes everything for Riya and Tooba. As the Taliban takes over Kabul on the 15th of August 2021, which also happens to be India's 75th Independence Day, Riya watches from a distance. As the Taliban brutality unfolds, Riya is slowly and irreversibly undone by Tooba's story, who reminds her that the desire to be alive cannot be killed, only inherited.
