Masterclass in Prague with György Baráthy!

As part of Series Launch: Essentials 2026, we are excited to welcome Hungarian writer, story editor, and TV development expert, György Baráthy.

MIDPOINT Institute, with the support of the Liszt Institute Prague, warmly invites industry professionals, members of the Czech audiovisual industry, and art school students to a public masterclass. The session will be led by Hungarian screenwriter and former HBO Europe creator György Baráthy, whose credits include In Treatment, When Shall We Kiss, and Veneer.

Masterclass: Building a Clear Series Concept

During the session, György will introduce his 7+7 Method—a practical development framework designed to help creators turn a promising idea into a clear, strong, and sustainable TV series concept. Drawing on more than a decade of experience in television development, theatre, and international training programs, Baráthy will share invaluable tools and insights for writers, producers, and creators developing episodic content.

About György Baráthy

György Baráthy is a Hungarian writer, story editor, and TV development expert. Fascinated by storytelling from an early age, he studied at the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest. Since 2011, he has collaborated with HBO Europe, writing 32 original television episodes, including In Treatment, When Shall We Kiss, and Veneer. His short film Youiverse premiered on HBO Max in 2020.

Beyond television, György has worked as a dramaturg, playwright, and translator on more than 80 theatre productions. He is an alumnus of MIDPOINT Series Launch, Sundance Episodic Lab, and Torino Series Lab. Alongside his work as a writer, he has mentored creators and taught story development internationally. He is also the creator of the 7+7 Method, a practical framework for developing original television series.
