Darej Somen
Darej Šömen is a Slovenian film and television producer, co-founder of Warehouse Collective, an independent production house based in Ljubljana. With over a decade of experience, he has built a versatile slate of projects ranging from reality TV formats to feature films and international co-productions. In television, Darej has produced several high-profile shows for Planet TV, including Married at First Sight (S4), Come Dine With Me (S2), and three seasons of Fish on the Cake (Riba, raca, rak), which reached audiences of more than 700,000 viewers per season. Earlier credits include Exatlon (S1–S2) and Family Feud (Družinski dvoboj). His work demonstrates a strong ability to adapt global formats for local markets while developing original concepts that resonate with broad audiences. In film, Darej has produced and co-produced award-winning short and feature projects such as Ameba (dir. Blaž Završnik), Chasm (Vrzel), and Sheltered (Pod okriljem), which screened widely at European festivals and earned multiple awards. He is currently developing a diverse slate of projects, including the historical feature Bloodhands (Rokovnjači), the mini-series The Sorrows of Young Hana, and the feature How I F**ed Death*. His focus is on socially relevant stories, literary adaptations, and cross-border collaborations that bring bold, diverse perspectives to European cinema. Through Warehouse Collective, Darej combines experience in both traditional and digital media, maintaining a hybrid approach that allows projects to scale effectively. He actively participates in international development workshops and industry markets, aiming to strengthen co-production ties and champion stories from Slovenia and the wider region.
