Maya Albanese is a writer, director, and producer known for surreal twists on emotionally grounded stories that explore the complexities of the female experience. Her scripts have been finalists in BlueCat, Screencraft, and Austin screenplay competitions. In 2023, she won Best Director at Paris International Film Festival and the Director’s Prize for Artistic Vision & Execution at FilmQuest for her fantasy-horror The Ringmaster. Her fantasy-comedy Freeze won numerous awards, including Best Short and Best Actress at SeriesFest and the Emerging Director Award at the LA Diversity Film Festival, before being distributed by HBO, ARGO, and Omeleto. Maya is also an award-winning commercial filmmaker for clients including Google, Amazon, Nike, and Warner Bros. She holds a Master’s in Documentary Filmmaking from Columbia University and BAs summa cum laude in International Studies and French from the University of California at Santa Barbara and Institut Catholique de Paris. She works in English, French, and Spanish and is based between the U.S. and France.
