Evzenie Brabcova
Evženie was born in Prague, in former Czechoslovakia, in 1983. She is a graduate of FAMU, film editor, screenwriter, director, script editor. As an editor she has contributed to the creation of numerous films in both Czech and international productions, many of which have been presented at various international film festivals.
Her recent projects include Anorgasmia (Iceland–Czech–Canadian co-production), which premiered at the Warsaw Film Festival 2025; Is There Any Place For Me, Please — a feature documentary that won the Audience Award at the Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival 2024; and My Sunny Maad (2021, CZ–SK–France), directed by Michaela Pavlátová, which was nominated in the category Best Animated Motion Picture at the 79th Golden Globe Awards and won the César Award for Best Animated Film in 2023.
In 2017, Evženie was a fellow of the NIPKOW Programme in Berlin, where she began developing her directorial debut. She is a Berlinale Talents alumna (2019) and, in 2018, participated in the Project & Process workshop Training Mentors for European Screenwriters and Filmmakers organized by Sources 2. She is also trained as a script consultant through MIDPOINT.
She has recently completed her scriptwriting and directorial feature debut Backwoods, a Czech–Slovak–Hungarian co-production slated for theatrical release in 2026. The screenplay received the Czech Film Foundation Award in 2020.
