Czech screenwriter and director. In 2021, he received the Czech Film Critics’ Award and the Czech Lion for Best Screenplay for Occupation (co-written with Marek Šindelka). His feature directorial debut Arvéd (2022), produced by Cinémotif Films, won Best Film, Best Screenplay, and Best Actor at the Czech Film Critics’ Awards and received three Czech Lions.
The short film Fricassé (dir. M. Krejčí, 2003), based on his screenplay, was selected for the Directors’ Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival. Together with Jiří Soukup and Václav Kadrnka, he co-wrote Little Crusader (dir. V. Kadrnka, 2017), which won the Crystal Globe for Best Feature Film at the 52nd Karlovy Vary IFF. He is also a playwright and an acclaimed comic book author. He works as a film dramaturg and teaches screenwriting at FAMU
