Anna Kalnina is a Latvian screenwriter whose creative career began later in life. Her voice is shaped by motherhood, cultural memory, and reinvention. This shows in her stories, which often sit at the intersection of myth and realism, exploring identity, agency, and transformation.
Anna is a 2025 alumna of the MIDPOINT TV Series Launch. Her debut feature, "My Freedom" (dir. Ilze Kunga-Melgaile), a historical drama about Latvian political activist Ita Kozakevica, premiered in 2023. Her second film, "Tiger Martindale's Survival Experts" (dir. Pavels Gumennikovs), is a family feature adaptation due to premiere in October 2026.
Anna is now moving into genre territory, with several TV series in early development. She holds an MFA in Film and Theatre from the Latvian Academy of Culture and is a board member of the Latvian Screenwriters Guild.
