Šimon Holý was born in 1994 in Prague. He graduated from the Film Directing Department at FAMU. He founded the production company První řada and is a member of the European Film Academy. His feature debut Mirrors in the Dark (2021) premiered at the Karlovy Vary IFF and went on to screen around the world. His second feature, And Then There Was Love… (2022), premiered in the Proxima competition section at the Karlovy Vary IFF and received nominations for both the Czech Film Critics' Awards and the Czech Lion Awards. His third feature, Hello, Welcome (2024), opened the 50th edition of the Summer Film School Uherské Hradiště. His fourth feature, Chica Checa, is set for theatrical release in 2026. Holý has composed music for several films, including Olmo Omerzu's Winter Flies, for which he received a nomination for the Czech Lion Award. He is the co-author of the podcasts Poprask and Rant Prostoru. For Radio Wave, he created the fiction audio series Zkouškový and Rozchod.
