Inside the Aftermind

Country: Czech Republic, Slovakia

In 1960s communist Czechoslovakia three psychiatrists pioneer the use of LSD to revolutionise mental healthcare. Convinced they can unlovk the door to the human mind - until they realise that some door cannot be closed again.

In communist Czechoslovakia of the 1960s–70s, three psychiatrists—Anna, Viktor and Stephen—pioneer the therapeutic use of LSD. Convinced that the drug can unlock the unconscious, reveal trauma and transform psychiatry, they build an experimental clinic where patients confront suppressed memories and unexpected forms of liberation. But as the treatments intensify, so do the risks. Each patient case forces the doctors to question where therapy ends and harm begins, while their own experiences with LSD expose unresolved wounds and reshape their relationships. Viktor becomes obsessed with proving his scientific vision, Anna fights to protect the patients and the clinic’s ideals, and Stephen pursues recognition and influence. As political pressure mounts and their loyalties diverge, the discovery that united them threatens to tear them apart.
