Growing Up
Three best friends travel to an Austrian Alpine resort to surprise their former classmate on his thirtieth birthday, convinced he has made it abroad as a chef. Instead of celebrating how far they have come, they discover that growing up can mean becoming exactly what they were trying to escape.
Megi (29), Kiara (30) and Luka (30) travel from Zagreb to the Austrian Alps to surprise Šimun on his thirtieth birthday. Expecting a successful chef, they find an exhausted cook who has hidden his Nepali partner Sita and her son Ram from them. Humiliated by sous-chef Felix and pressured by his friends, Šimun deliberately swaps two labelled containers, contaminating a dish for a guest with a nut allergy. He can stop it but, knowing Felix will be blamed, lets it be served. As Šimun weighs confession against promotion, his friends meddle in the hotel’s migrant workers’ lives: Kiara controls the workers she wants to protect, Luka targets a bellboy over his scratched Mercedes, and Megi tries to win Šimun back. A missing lotion, coerced silence and a misdirected dick pic turn their six-day holiday into a dark comedy paid for by the workers.
