BRAVE BOYS
After soldiers knock on their front doors with shocking news, a playful eight-year old boy Šomi will try to protect his family by doing “what brave boys always do”.
Šomi(8) is a seemingly naïve boy who loves playing with his toy rifle. Loud music from his headphones is drowning out the outside world. Through a Voice-Over, we’re witness to Šomi’s thoughts, piercing the music. When faced with “difficult” situations, even in play, his father’s words come as a constant reminder of how “smart boys” should behave.
Šomi, his Mom, Grandma and Grandpa are enjoying a seemingly normal lunch. Mom makes Šomi take his headphone off and his world becomes flooded by the sounds of war news from the TV and radio. This paints a completely different picture on their “everyday” lunch.
The front doorbell rings, surprising them all. Šomi runs for the doors thinking it’s Dad but there’s two unknown soldiers in front. They hand Mom a bundle of personal belongings and leave. Šomi turns to see Mom, Grandma and Grandpa in shock. He’s suddenly grabbed by Grandpa and pushed into a bedroom. Grandpa’s acting brave for Šomi but it’s soon clear Šomi is the brave one of the two.
