Andra Chiriac Hera graduated film studies at ESRA in Paris, then returned to Romania, working as an assistant director, casting director and acting trainer. In 2017, she directed her third shortfilm - Granițe / Borders, which premiered at Gent Film Festival in Belgium, travelled to numerous international festivals, was acquired by Canal+ and was nominated for the Romanian Gopo Awards. Her most recent film, The Things We Hide in Silence (90’, 2021) is a documentary foray into the lives of two protagonists engaged in an unconventional voice therapy that challenges them to confront how family patterns, subjective memory and the voices of others have shaped their identities. The film premiered at TIFF and was nominated for a Gopo Award in 2022. She is currently in pre-production with the short Wild Fruit and in advanced development with her debut feature The Embrace.
