Xavier Henry-Rashid began as a photographer and freelance journalist, contributing to publications like Variety, Screen and GQ, and writing for the original Yahoo Movies and BBCFilms websites. He has held various festival roles, including as Executive Director of Raindance Film Festival, as previewer for Sheffield Doc Fest, in sponsorship for AEG/Sundance London and the East End Film Festival. Since 2012, he runs Film Republic, a London-based world sales company. Their Foreign Language Oscar entries include Concrete Night (Pirjo Honkasalo), El Limpiador (Adrian Saba), 8 Views of Lake Biwa (Marko Raat) and many more. Xavier is also a Berlin Talent Campus and Screen Institute alumnus, and a member of EAVE and EFA.
