Gijs Veerhoek
Gijs Veerhoek is an Amsterdam-based writer-director whose work spans commercial storytelling, narrative film and documentary. Over 15 years directing commercial projects, Gijs has crafted campaigns for Netflix and created work for brands including IKEA, Heinz, Albert Heijn and Uber Eats. He also worked as assistant director on the crime-comedies Plan C and Smeris. As a screenwriter, Gijs created and wrote the satirical horror Rats, optioned by Pellicola Film, and is developing the sci-fi thriller Godor with Make Way Film. His short film Snuffelstage premiered at the Dutch Film Festival and earned a nomination for Best Short Comedy at Kevin Smith's SModcastle Film Festival in 2025. His short psychological thriller Through Me, shot in April 2026 in Los Angeles, is currently in post-production aiming for a festival release later this year or early 2027. Besides his scripted work, Gijs has feature-length documentary You Only Live Twice in post production. The documentary follows his childhood friend's battle with a deadly lung disease and is set for release early 2027.
