Damjana Ellis is a Croatian screenwriter and stand-up comedian whose work blends sharp comedy with emotional honesty, exploring modern relationships, family dynamics, and the cultural contradictions of contemporary life. After spending ten years living in Toronto, Canada, she is now based in Zagreb, where she develops original television projects while continuing to work internationally.
Damjana is a graduate of The Second City Toronto’s Stand-Up Comedy and TV Writing Program, where she developed her voice in scripted television, sketch comedy, and live performance. She worked as a Writers’ Room Assistant on the acclaimed Canadian comedy series Workin’ Moms, supporting story development and the day-to-day creative workflow of the writers’ room. She is currently developing her debut Croatian dramedy series, Between Us (Između nas), which explores digital intimacy and Balkan family dynamics. Damjana regularly performs stand-up comedy in English, mostly in Zagreb, Berlin and London.
