Sona Morgenthalova

Soňa joined MIDPOINT Institute in 2017 and works as a program coordinator, currently managing Feature Launch, Focus Queer, MIDPOINT Shorts, Script Consultancy Training, Company Time, and a range of international MIDPOINT Intensive workshops.

 She leads program development and curation, oversees selection processes, and manages project evaluations across different stages of development. She works closely with writers, directors, producers, and script consultants, providing feedback on submitted materials and helping shape training activities around the creative and professional needs of each project. Her work combines a strong understanding of storytelling and project development with practical knowledge of international training, pitching, financing, and the wider audiovisual industry.

 Soňa also initiated Focus Queer, a program dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ stories and strengthening the visibility of diverse voices within the international film landscape. Beyond MIDPOINT, she is regularly involved as a reader, evaluator, and industry expert for institutions, initiatives and festivals,  including the Czech Film Center, the Kosovo Cinematography Center, Cannes' Cinéma de Démain, Locarno Pro, Meetings on the Bridge, IN THE PALACE ISFF or PITCH_IT.

 Before joining MIDPOINT, Soňa worked in international film service production and casting. Her professional experience includes Bong Joon Ho’s Snowpiercer, as well as films and series such as Ophelia, The Death & Life of John F. Donovan, Underworld: Blood Wars, Knightfall, Britannia, and Crossing Lines. She has a background in film theory and cultural management.
