Alexandra Gabrizova
Alexandra joined the MIDPOINT Institute team in 2021, where she is currently responsible for the vision, market positioning, and overall methodology of the series programs.
As Program Coordinator, she manages the Writers' Room and Climate and Transformative Narrative workshops, as well as on-demand workshops for external partners and companies, including Banijay Scripted. Her work includes developing and maintaining international partnerships and tailoring market-oriented strategies.
She is regularly involved as a reader and industry expert for funds and festivals, including the Czech Film Centre, the Czech Audiovisual Fund, the Slovak Audiovisual Fund, and Nadácia Bratislava, and serves as a jury member at numerous film and series festivals.
Her passion lies in building relevant connections across the international industry, and championing impactful stories that take our planetary limits into consideration. She has consulted on the international positioning of several Czech series in development.
She is co-founder of Disco Sailing, an agency specializing in the festival distribution of Slovak and Czech short films, helping them find the right positioning on the international market. She also regularly collaborates on the selection of Asian films for the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, with a particular focus on Japan and Korea.
A graduate of Audiovisual Studies from the Film and Television Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (VŠMU), she headed the faculty's Festival Department from 2016 to 2021, and has taught the seminar Festival Strategies there since 2020. She is an alumna of the Thessaloniki Locarno Industry Academy for sales and media professionals, and occasionally works as a film curator and journalist.
