The power plant is closing down – unemployment is dominating the town in Eastern Slovakia. Ágoston, a 50-year old family type, sets out on a journey through Eastern Europe in a desperate hope to find work and to fulfill his dream – to catch a big fish. In the Baltics, he finds himself alone and without anything. This journey moves him deeper and deeper into a pool of bizarre events and encounters: with a tall, friendly woman, a Russian friend with unfriendly intentions, and with a sad stuffed bunny without ears. The waves clash against the sand, and return back to the sea. A new wave comes to wipe off the previous one. Here, the sea ends, it certainly does not begin.

OUT is written by Gyorgy Kristof, Eszter Horvath and Gabor Papp and produced by Marek Urban, Ferenc Pusztai, Jiri Konecny between Slovakia, Hungary and Czech Republic.

Writer and director Gyorgy Kristof (born 1982 in Kosice, Slovakia) is a student of the FAMU film school in Prague. The project participated in MIDPOINT Feature Launch 2013, and was presented at Pitch & Feedback at KVIFF in 2013. In 2015 it was then selected for the prestigious L´Atelier organized in the framework of the Cannes IFF.

Gyorgy Kristof says: "I am very glad that we managed to create a film capable to compete on the highest world level, right at a first shot."

The film will be competing in Un Certain Regard with works by directors such as Mathieu Amalric, Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Michel Franco and Laurent Cantet.
